Healthy Food, Health Matters:
It is said that we are what we eat, and certainly the food we eat plays a large part in determining how healthy we are and how we develop from infancy and through our adult years. If you’d like your youngster to avoid the possibility of prolonged illnesses in later life then getting them to consume health food at a young age is important.
But just how important is it to eat healthy food? What type of health problems may be avoided by getting rid of the junk food and replacing it with healthy food?
Well for a start there’s cancer! Fruit and veggies are full of anti-oxidants, which scientists have been saying for years have cancer preventing properties. Fruit is also a great healthy way to satisfy a sweet tooth, rather that eating sugary foods, or chemical, artificial sweeteners.
A healthy diet not only assists you with weight loss but is also going to keep you going for much longer during the day. One of the dangers of consuming junk food is the peaks and troughs it gives you. The excessive quantity of refined carbs will give you an immediate high and feeling like you have got plenty of energy, but that spike will soon turn into a slump 2 hours later on leaving you feeling tired and sleepy, feeling like you need another boost.
All of these highs and lows in your blood sugar levels can ultimately result in insulin resistance and diabetes. So all those energy drinks which are currently being promoted as if they are something healthy are definitely not!
Eating healthily, and getting your youngster in the habit of eating healthily, isn’t tricky to do. Knowing you’re helping both yourself and your child to avoid chronic health problems in later life is definitely a good incentive, if you should need one.
