Heart healthy fats is a huge question we have when we discover
that we have high blood pressure and other cardiovascular
diseases. Are there fats that I am eating that aren’t good for
my heart health? Is there a difference in fats and some are
heart healthy?
Reading labels is one way that we trust, that the
companies making our purchased food, are telling the
truth of the ingredients. Well, that is not necessarily the
truth anymore as the laws changed again and now they
can reduce the serving size and call their products
trans fat free, when in actuality, they can still put
different terms on the trans fats they use in our foods.
Watch this video for a further explanation of what heart
healthy fats are and are not:
Trans Fats: The Food Labels are LYING!
www.undergroundwellness.com Sean Croxton of Underground
Wellness discusses trans fats. Trans fats look more like plastic
under a microscope than fats. They are essentially “fake fats”,
concocted in a laboratory. Food companies love them
since they keep food from spoiling but they also have dire
cardiovascular consequences. Read labels. Avoid
partially hydrogenated oils and trans fats!
These partially hydrogenated oils and trans fats are what is
causing several types of heart disease as they are not natural,
causing plaque build ups, in our veins and arteries.
So what kinds of fat do I need for heart healthy fats? We need
to include the flax seed and coconut oils for our stir-frying.
Olive is better than most other oils but it still is the
best heart healthy fat.
Take some notes from this video and learn the value of
high fat foods for our heart health. Yes, we need the
quality rich fats provided for us in the organic seeds
and nuts daily for keeping our heart healthy. We need
a balance of foods to keep our heart healthy and
also to keep other diseases from attacking our bodies:

rather than oils and why super low fat eating is not ideal,
and more about essential fatty acids. Olive oil is not good
for your heart! (It’s just not as bad as other fats most
people eat, but it still promotes heart disease.) This is

It seems that we don’t take enough care of our own bodies,
we eat on the go, we eat on the job, we drive in to pick up
somethings we don’t need to nourish our bodies or should
I say, fill our bodies?
We are given one healthy body and it needs the proper raw
foods everyday to keep our immune systems functioning,
our hearts healthy, our kidneys flushing out those toxins,
our blood healthy so we don’t experience high blood
pressure, diabetes and other cardiovascular disease.
We may need to include these

5 supplements for heart health are important for all of us that
are over the age of 40 including garlic, Q10 and others. Our
bodies change with how we absorb the nutrients from eating
lots of raw foods and so we may need to supplement with
some natural supplements. When we don’t get enough
nutrients from our foods on a daily basis, we experience
all kinds of cardiovascular diseases. This video will show
you and explain the 5 supplements for heart health:

So why do we need at least 5 supplements for our heart health?
Have you paid attention or know how your food is grown?
Where are the fresh raw fruits and fresh raw vegetables from?
Are they locally grown or are they shipped here from other
countries? Are they sprayed with chemicals so they arrive
fresher looking?
With this in mind, lets consider why we need to supplement
with supplements. Our bodies will not absorb all vitamins
and minerals in our supermarkets. We need to get those that
are naturally made or in liquid form for absorption.
Since this is heart month we need to pay attention to how to
protect our heart: eat a healthy diet, everything you eat,
the way you exercise, will let us know how healthy our heart
is. Are we getting enough sleep is another condition to
consider? What about the stress levels in your life?

its important to understand and always ask our health clinicians what our

hypertension and much higher risk?

Potassium and heart health is important as potassium is a vital
element in our bodies. Our heart requires it to beat properly
and it also regulates our blood pressure. Potassium is needed
for muscle strength and function, if we don’t have the proper
levels we can have cramping, weakness and be tired all the
time.
Fainting can be an issue when the potassium levels get to low
in our systems. Low potassium can also cause heart
palpitations and irregular heart beating. It can bring about
feeling depressed, being confused and sometimes even
hallucinations. Being really thirsty is another possible
symptom that we can have when our potassium is
getting really low.
What are some foods to help us with our potassium
and heart health? Bananas are made of approximately
11% potassium, 20% Vitamin B6, 15% of our Vitamin C,
16% of our dietary fiber we need on a daily basis. They
are also soothing to our stomachs.
Bananas contain that important soluble fiber that
helps to lower blood cholesterol, reduce strokes,
and other cardiovascular heart disease.
Did You know that bananas are sodium free and
that also makes them good for the heart health?
Eating 2 bananas a day will keep our potassium level up.
Bananas help with our stress levels and we can sleep
better when eat bananas every day.
Did you know that bananas are great for those with
diabetes as they help maintain the blood sugar levels
also? Snack on bananas in moderation!
Some other potassium rich foods are grilled salmon,
1 cup of steamed broccoli, 1/2 cup steamed spinach,
1 cup raw cauliflower, 1/2 of an avocado and if you
are a meat eater, 4 oz. beef such a the sirloin for less
fat or about a cup of chopped white meat of chicken.
Most nuts are healthy if left in their natural state,
which means unsalted. The number one nut is the
pistachio nut as its got the most potassium and offers
3o different vitamin, minerals and phytonutrients.
Pistachios are great then to eat to help lower our bad
cholesterol levels and raise the good cholesterol levels.
This video offers tips about potassium and heart
health for all of us:
Pistachios – The Low Fat Low Calorie Nut
www.nutritionalchoice.net Holistic Nutrition Consultant, Karen Roth,
MS, NC talks about the health benefits of pistachios. Pistachios have
been called the Skinny Nut,” because they are one of the lowest
calorie, AND lowest fat nuts; Full of fiber and protein, pistachio
help you feel fuller longer. A serving size is ½ cup with shells on,
or ¼ cup if shelled. One serving of pistachios has 3 grams of fiber.
That’s more than most other snack nuts and more than many
types of whole fruit. Pistachios have more potassium than any
other nut. Did you know a serving of pistachios has more
potassium than half of a large banana? Per serving,
pistachios have more antioxidants than green tea.
Pistachios are a “hearty” snack offering more
cholesterol fighting phytosterols than any other
nut. The green color in pistachios comes from
a compound called lutein which helps
prevent the most common form of blindness
in older adults. Pistachios offer more than 30
different vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients.
Pistachio nuts have also been shown to improve
cardiovascular health. According to a study
published in the American Journal of Clinical
Nutrition, pistachios may lower LDL (bad)
cholesterol levels and increase HDL (good)
cholesterol levels. Pistachios go really good
in salads and you can toss them in your
yogurt or oatmeal.
